Memories for Marvin

From: Bryan Vendsel

Betty and Family: Marv was a wonderful man. I have not seen him in years but have thought of him often as I think about my younger years. May he rest in peace.

Nancy and family,
Thinking of you and remembering all the times you talked about your family. Your family was blessed to have such a close relationship.

Marvin was always one of my favorite "Carpio people" - his ready smile and story was only topped by his gift of listening. I remember the charge book at the store, which was a wonderful thing for a "farm kid" and saved me many times. I also used to get a chuckle when he would get in all the candied fruits Mom needed for the fruitcake and then he'd also go down to the bar to get the Mogan David she needed for it too - cuz she just couldn't do that. She'd ask him and off he'd go. What a guy!

I also remember him trying to teach me to water ski - I bet I was one of his few failures - not that he didn't try.

He was always so proud of his kids, you could just see it on his face and even of his kids' friends. I always appreciated that.

Take care of yourselves, you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Betty & Family:
I was sad to hear about the passing of Marvin. I have good memories of the many trips we made to the grocery store and how good he was to us kids when we did come into the store. God Bless Your Entire Family through this difficult time!

I ve been thinking so much of all you and want you to know you re in my thoughts and prayers as you deal with this loss. Like Rhonda, I have great memories of the Carpio Grocery and often tell stories of the charge book to my city friends who just don t understand. It was a different time, that s for sure. It was the best of times.

Cherish the memories, lean on your friends and family for comfort and strength, and always remember how much you are all cared about.

Our sympathy to Betty and the Peterson family at the death of Marv. We remember Marv and Betty for their friendship and kindness. One year, when the teacher paychecks were delayed, Marv allowed us to charge our groceries until we could pay. We have fond and joyful memories of those times when we lived in Carpio, ND.
