Memories for Lilly Schmidt

From: Julie Engel

I was an employee at Medical Arts Clinic with Lilly. She was such a special person in so many ways. She was always so funny and sweet whether she was telling a story about her family or something else. Her laugh was infectious just like her personality. Anyone who ever met Lilly, could not possibly forget her. My deepest sympathy, thoughts, and prayers to her family. Lilly is unforgetable.

Nancy,

Please accept Sandy's and my sincere condolences on the passing of your mother. I remember her kindness as we kids hung around catechism and the church when we were young. She always seemed to have others in mind.

If I recall my mother's story, I think she shared a hospital ward with my Mom and me as your little brother and I were born.

May our Lord and Savior grant her peace.

I was a classmate of Lilly at Harvey High class of 1950.
At noon hour I would pick up her and some other girls and give them a ride back to school. I last saw her at Dale Schmidts funeral. She brought the rides up then. I see from the obituary that she had a full life and did a lot for others.
May she rest in peace.

Leroy -

I have been thinking about the many fond memories I have of you and Lilly ever since I received the phone call from Minot. Over the years there have been a lot of wonderful times that I have spent with you. The one I think of first and foremost was the time you had me put in the sky light while you and Lilly were on vacation. May God see you through this trying time. We love you. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear Leroy and family,
How deeply saddened my entire family was when we heard of the sudden death of your beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. However; I am sure my mother is rejoicing in Heaven right now to be reunited with her dear friend, Lilly! Words can never fully express how grateful our family was for the care that Lilly provided our mom during her final weeks. It was such a relief to us whenever Lillian came over to spend time with Mom because we always knew she was in the very BEST of hands, to say the least - the knowledge of a nurse and the compassion of a true friend - you really can't beat that combination. When my mom died at age 60 I told my mother-in-law that I got "robbed" and she gently reminded me that I was not robbed, but "blessed" to have had such a beautiful, loving mother to raise me. It took me a long time to come to the realization that her words were very true and I hope that all of you will find the peace that comes from knowing that you, too, were all very bles!
sed indeed to have gotten to share your life with such a wonderful woman. You will all remain in my thoughts and prayers during these difficult days and months to follow.

Aunt Lilly was always like a second mother to us. We took comfort from knowing that our sweet aunt across the street was also a nurse. Her medical experience came in handy when my brother Tim cut off his fingertip on a broken glass. Aunt Lilly's help saved the day (and Tim's fingertip)! We will miss her so much.

I was very sad to hear that Aunt Lilly had passed away so unexpectedly. She was a "Great" Aunt and I have many fond memories of her. Every time we visited Grandma Gloria and Grandpa Melvin in Minot, I looked forward to visiting LeRoy & Lilly too. She is a shining example of a life well lived, and will be truly missed by all whose lives she touched. My thoughts and prayers are with you, and may God bless your family.

Although there were too many miles between us, we were with you in spirit & prayer over the days of your loss & funeral. Aunt Lilly was an inspiration to her siblings, always there to lend a hand when someone needed medical attention or advise. She was always the one that took care of those in the family that were ill, we never once thought about her being vulnerable. We will miss her, her smile & her laugh. Sorry we couldn't be there.
