Memories for John

From: Kelly and Joe Uhrmacher

I was the parish secretary at Little Flower Church for many years and knew Mr. and Mrs. (Lucille) Decker from there. I had to resign my job due to illness. My medical bills were out of this world and we had very little income coming in. Mr. and Mrs. Decker gave money to us, which helped my little family get through a very hard time. We are forever grateful to them and will continue to keep them in our prayers. What kind of person gives so much to somebody they don't really even know? They are truly good and very special people. Like my mother, John and Lucille were able to achieve that perfect love God calls us to have for our neighbors in Paul's letter to the Corinthians. I don't think many people are able to do this, only the very exceptional, and he is certainly that. How blessed are those who were able to share his life, even the little tiny bit I had.

What a wonderful father and person. So enjoyed our visit in Casa Grande and at the reunions over the years. God blessed him with good health and a good heart. We all were so lucky to grow up in Minot with parents like yours and ours. Am so glad to hear that Jack is recovered from the stroke and doing well. Will be thinking of your and your family Tuesday. To the Decker/Koll/Henjum families,
Our thoughts & prayers are with you all at this time. Marian was married to my uncle Herman, who was my Mom's brother. It sounds like John was a very busy man.

We were privileged to know and work with John in the State Senate and in several community projects. Like many in this community, we will miss him.

I remember John as a great thinker. He was always there to ask the tough questions, even to his golfing buddy, Roger O. A man of infinite good spirit and wisdom. I learned much from him. Jeff Miller
