Memories for Gladys

From: Joan Hiller

It was my opportunity to work as an employee of Gladys' in the auditor's office for two years. She was a "class act" who kept the county finances and her employees under control. My favorite memory was at her retirement luncheon when she opened the gift from county employees, a diamond ring. We thought she deserved that for being "married" to Ward County for 44 years.

Dear Ida and Family: I am sorry for your loss. Gladys was a very dear friend to my mother, Verna Anderson Simonson. Gladys was very proud of her Norwegian ancestry and we would converse in "norsk" together. And she always wrote an interesting Christmas letter about all of her travels and an update on her family. She was a lovely woman.

My mom sent me the obituary from the Minot Daily News. So sorry to hear that Gladys
passed away. I worked for Gladys. I enjoyed working for her. She was always very good to me. Thru the years I thought of her often. May God rest her soul. Bless you Gladys! Linda Busch (Dillen), Cleveland, OH

I was fortunate enough to have met Gladys in my youth, when dad was a commissioner. I can remember her smiling face, I don't ever remember her being negative about anything. I can also remember dad commenting on how proficient she was at her work. She was always going at a fast walk. My sister Linda was on staff with Gladys for sometime, I know she learned alot in her job. I guess that I will remember Gladys as a person of very high work ethics, and that smiling face! Always that smiling face! God bless you all, and may he richly bless you, Gladys!
