Raymond August Zurcher
1946 - 2003 Raymond August Zurcher, 56, Newburg, died Tuesday in his home of natural causes. He was born July 24, 1946, in Minot to Christian Jr. and Evelyn (Ehlke) Zurcher. He attended grades one through four in Maxbass and then moved with his family to a farm near Russell, ND. He attended school in Russell before attending Newburg and graduated from Newburg High School in 1964. Following graduation he attended Minot State University, graduating with a bachelor's degree in 1969. He then worked for Job Services in Minot for a time. On July 19, 1973, in Minot, he married Mary Trebas of Bottineau. They moved to a farm by Newburg in 1975. He served in the National Guard for several years, ending his service as a First Lieutenant. He also served as a rural mail carrier for a few years. He farmed in the Newburg area until the time of his death. He was a member of Dovre Lutheran Church where he taught Sunday School and served on the church council. He was also a member of the Newburg School Board. Spending time with his family was his greatest joy. Survivors: wife, Mary Zurcher, Newburg; daughters, Angela (Brian) Sears, Minot Air Force Base and Sarah (Shawn) Chabot, Newburg; grandchildren, Elicia and Bradley Sears and Ashley Chabot; mother, Evelyn Zurcher, Minot; brothers, Max (Devra) Zurcher, Coleharbor, Michael (Ada) Zurcher, Newburg and Fred (Rita) Zurcher, Minot; sisters Dianna (Bruce) Duller and Kristine (Steve) Long, all of Minot. He was preceded in death by his father, Christian Zurcher Funeral: Friday, 2:00 p.m. at Dovre Lutheran Church, Newburg.
