Evelyn Zurcher 1923 - 2007 Evelyn was born January 17, 1923, the daughter of August and Clara (Shong) Ehlke in Bottineau, ND. She was reared and educated in the Eckman area, and graduated from Russell High School in 1941. On January 17, 1942, she was united in marriage to Christian Zurcher Jr. at St. Paul's Lutheran Parsonage in Minot. Following their marriage they lived in various communities before moving to Maxbass, ND where they were the owner/operators of the Red and White Grocery Store. The family then moved to a farm outside of the Maxbass area, before moving to a farm near Russell, ND, where they spent most of their married lives. Evelyn moved to Minot in 1979. Christian died July 2, 1992. Evelyn's family was very important to her. She was the second oldest of ten children, so she was the protector of her siblings, a trait she carried to her children, and then to her grandchildren. She will be missed by all that knew her. She was a member of the Dovre Lutheran Church, where she was active with the ladies aid, and Bible study. She is survived by: Sons: Max (Devra) Zurcher, Minot, ND; Michael (Ada) Zurcher, Newburg, ND; Fred (Rita) Zurcher, Minot: daughter-in-law, Mary Zurcher, Minot: daughters: Dianna (Bruce) Duller, Minot, Kristine (Steve) Long, Minot: sisters: Vivian Wenzel, Minot; Arlene McKechnie, Westhope, ND; Muriel Brandt, Minot, ND; Marion Mettler, Minneapolis, MN; brothers: Lavern Ehlke, Flaxton, ND; Leon (Joyce) Ehlke, Helena, MT: 18 grandchildren: 20 great-grandchildren: 2 great-great grandchildren: numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, son Raymond, parents, sisters June Skinn, Ardella Stroebel Wibe and brother Floyd Ehlke. Visitation: Wednesday, March 28, 2007 from noon until 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot Prayer Service: Wednesday at 7 in the Thompson Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot Funeral Service: Thursday, March 29, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, Minot Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
