John Zieske 1950- 2006


John Zieske, 56, 1421 78th St. SE, Minot, ND, died Wednesday, June 14, 2006, in his home.

John Allen Zieske was born on January 24, 1950, the son of Albert and Betty (Welsch) Zieske in Kenmare, ND. He was raised and educated in Kenmare and graduated from Kenmare High School in 1968. He then attended the Wahpeton State School of Science and graduated with a degree in Architectural Drafting in 1970.

He attained his electrical license and owned and operated Zieske Electric for some time. John married Connie Michel on April 8, 1972, in Donnybrook, ND. They made their home in Minot where he had worked as a foreman for Great Plains Supply Co. for over 20 years, and later United Building Centers (UBC). He was currently employed at Minot Lumber and Hardware.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and anything that involved the outdoors. He was a 'jack of all trades.' He especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Surviving family includes:
wife, Connie, Minot; daughters, Stacey, and her husband, Chad Atterton, and Angie and her fiancé, Jacob Hansen, both of Surrey, ND; granddaughters, Taylor and Brooklyn; mother, Betty Zieske, Kenmare, ND; mother-in-law, Dolores Michel, Donnybrook, ND; sister, Sharon (Thomas) Parsley, Minot; brother, David (Cindy) Zieske, Fargo, ND; sister-in-law, Barb (Marshall) Johnson, Donnybrook, ND; brothers-in-law, Ronnie (Sandy) Michel, Alan Michel, and Danny (Mary Ann) Michel, all of Donnybrook, ND; half-brother, Clifford Zieske; half-sisters, Lila (Oliver) Friedricks and Delores Oswald, all of Minnesota; and several nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his father, Albert; brother, Michael; and father-in-law, Glenn Michel.

Funeral: Saturday, June 17, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. at Vincent United Methodist Church, Minot.

Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot, ND.

Visitation: Friday from Noon to 5 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Prayer Service: Friday at 7 pm at Vincent United Methodist Church, Minot.
