Delores Zieman • 1928 - 2007 Delores Laura "Dee" Downie was born December 25, 1928, the daughter of Jack and Esther (Alexander) Downie in Makoti, ND. She was raised in Makoti and graduated from Makoti High School in 1948. She had a lifelong love of learning taking college courses of interest to her as well as professional development training throughout her life. Delores was united in marriage to Dale Zieman February 12, 1955, at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, Augusta, GA. Following their marriage, she accompanied her husband on military duty in Verdun, France, and then to Minnesota. They returned to North Dakota in 1960, living in Fargo, Bottineau, Dickinson, and New Town before moving to Tallahassee, FL in 1991. They began to spend summers in Makoti, ND in 1998 and then moved to Lakeland, FL in 2000. She was very active in raising her family, in the community, and in their churches. She enjoyed her employment in market research and interviewing until open heart surgery in 1987. She continued her involvement in family, church, and community. She enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking, and crossword puzzles. She made quilts and latchhook for wall hangings and pillows for her family and friends. Her love of traveling and nature led to many adventures and activities. Surviving family includes: husband of 52 years: Dale, Lakeland, FL; children: Susan (Dean) Thompson, Minot; Jonathan (Mary Beth) Zieman, Sanford, MI; Pamela Zieman, Lebanon, OR; and Carolyn Zieman, Reno, NV; grandchildren: Robert, Florence, Megan, Ian, Cullan, James, Tabor, Mitchell, and Roscoe; great-grandchildren: Tia, Coco, Jada, Shamarye, Meiko, and Charisma; sisters: Connie Treiber, Dickinson; and Lois Wolf, Minot; aunt: Verna Bauer, Bismarck; brother-in-law: Ron Kolden, Carrington; sister-in-law: Evelyn Downie, Havre, MT; and numerous nieces and nephews. Delores was preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Doris Barta, Janice Larson, Joyce Nordwall, Diana Kolden; and brothers: Thomas, Darold and Jackie Downie. Visitation will also be from 2p.m. until 3 p.m. on Sunday at the Church on Sunday. Funeral: Sunday, October 21, 2007, at 3:00 p.m. at
