Alice J. Yellow Bird • 1921 - 2004 Alice J. Yellow Bird, 82, Garrison, died Friday, March 5, 2004, in an adult foster care home in Ryder, ND. Alice was born June 21, 1921, in Ryder, ND, the daughter of Melvin and Tena (Rusten) Jensen. She was reared and educated in Ryder. She married A. P. Zilka in 1937. They lived in Ryder and they later divorced. She married Earl Hanson and they farmed south of Ryder. Earl preceded her in death. On January 27, 1985 she married LeRoy Yellow Bird. They moved to La Habra, California, where they lived for 2 ½ years and then moved back to North Dakota and made their home in Garrison. Survivors: Husband, Harold LeRoy Yellow Bird, Garrison; daughters, Betty (Paul) Berg, Douglas, Maxine Mikkelson, Minot, and Donna (Byron) Larson, Ryder; 15 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren; step-children, Kenton Yellow Bird, Commerce, CA, Royce Yellow Bird, Mandan, Lesalie Holt, Long Beach, CA and Rhonda LaCroix, Underwood, and a number of step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Hanson; daughter, Judith Larson; brother, Muryl Jensen, and sister, Jeanette Zilka. Funeral: Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at 2:00 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND. Visitation: Tuesday, March 9, 2004, from noon to 7:00 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot. Burial: Ryder Cemetery, Ryder, ND, in the spring. Music: Rev.
