Marie E. Wood • 1955 - 2005

Marie E. Wood, 50, 1812 7 St SW, Minot, passed away in her home surrounded by family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, November 9, 2005.

Marie Elaine Wood was born January 20, 1955, in Minot, the daughter of Ervin E. and Elaine (Gregoryk) Engel. She was reared and educated in Minot and attended Little Flower Grade School, Erik Ramstad Jr. High and graduated from Minot High School in 1973. Following high school she was employed at Miracle Mart and continued working there for 33 years. She was employed there until the time of her death. Marie married James Wood on June 16, 2001, in Minot.

Marie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Marie always thought of family and friends before herself. She brightened the world through creativity and love.

Marie was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Minot.

Marie's surviving family includes her husband, James "Jim" Wood, Minot; parents, Ervin and Elaine Engel, Minot; daughter, ReAnna (Dane) Reing, Minot; step-daughter, Allison Wood, Minneapolis, MN; sisters, Diane (Jerry) Stai, Minot, Joanne (Jack) Lundeen, Scottsdale, AZ, Dorothy (Lee) Allen, Fargo, Nancy (Engen) Eckmann, Minot, and Peggy (Michael) Kent, Crystal Lake, IL; brothers, Robert "Bob" Engel, Fargo, ND, and James "Jim" (Sherry) Engel, Surrey, ND; one grandson, Caleb Reing and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins also survive.

The family would like to acknowledge Marie's, first husband and ReAnna's father, Bob Opperude.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Zion Lutheran Church Building Fund in Minot or the American Cancer Society at 4646 Amber Valley Parkway South, Fargo ND 58102.

Funeral Service: Monday, November 14, 2005, at 11:00 am at Zion Lutheran Church, Minot.

There will be no reviewal but friends may sign a register book on Saturday November 12 from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm and Sunday, November 13 from noon until 5:00 pm at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
