Louise E. Wolkenhauer 1928 - 2004

Louise E. Wolkenhauer, 76, Flaxton, ND, died Wednesday, June 30, 2004, in the Mohall Good Samaritan Center.

Louise was born January 15, 1928, in rural Bowbells, ND, the daughter of Harold and Grace (White) Durward. She was raised in Bowbells and graduated from Bowbells High School. She attended two years of business college in Fargo, and then worked at a bank in Minnewaukan. Louise returned to Bowbells, and on June 3, 1950, she married Alfred Wolkenhauer at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Flaxton. They lived and farmed in the Flaxton area.

Louise worked at the Bowbells bank for a number of years. She worked as secretary for the Renville and Burke County Red Cross for a number of years, and also worked as secretary for the Burke County Fair for 13 years. She served as county treasurer for the local Farmer's Union and was the North Dakota State Director of the Farmers Union for three terms. She was the Richland Township Assessor for a number of years and served on the Flaxton School Board.

Louise was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Flaxton and the LWML.

Survivors: Husband, Alfred, Flaxton; sons, Terry (Laurel) Wolkenhauer, Flaxton, and Kent (Carol) Wolkenhauer, Fessenden; four grandchildren, Nicole (Dan) Larson, Caitlan Wolkenhauer, Jeremy Ragle, Teri (Justin) Nelson; sisters, Beverly (Gerald) Tafelmeyer, Cut Bank, MT, Ann (Duane) McDaniel, Grand Forks, ND; sister-in-law, Colleen Durward, Bowbells; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins survive. Louise was preceded in death by two infant sons, and one infant daughter, Cheryl; her parents, Harold and Grace, brother, Larry Durward, and daughter-in-law, Kelly Wolkenhauer.

Funeral: Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Flaxton, ND.

Visitation: Tuesday, July 6, 2004, one hour prior to the service in the church.

Burial: Flaxton Cemetery, Flaxton, ND.
