Clara R. Wohl 1915 - 2011

Clara Wohl PhotoClara R. Wohl, 95, Minot, formerly of Anamoose, ND, died Monday, July 4, 2011 in a Grafton nursing home.  Clara had been relocated there from Trinity Nursing Home in Minot during the flood. 

Clara was born October 31, 1915 in Anamoose, ND to Adam and Pauline (Brahm) Wohl.  She graduated from Anamoose High School in 1933.

Following graduation, she remained in Anamoose as a caregiver for her mother and as a bookkeeper for her father’s business.  Later Clara was employed by Flagstaff House in Boulder, Colorado and spent many years in Tacoma, WA and Portland, OR as a caregiver and child care provider.  During the 70’s she returned to North Dakota and continued working as a personal caregiver, houseparent at the YWCA, and worked at Central Campus Cafeteria in Minot.

Clara was a long-time member of St. Martin’s Lutheran Church in Anamoose and later became a member at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Minot.

She enjoyed cooking, playing cards, creative writing and researching family history.  She loved sharing family stories with others and had a special sense of humor that will be remembered by friends and family.

Those who shared in Clara’s life, sister, Florence Stenehjem, Minot; sister-in-law, Shirley Wohl, Bismarck and brother-in-law, Donald Uppendahl, Bend, OR; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Fred, Henry, Art, Wally and Richard; and five sisters, Elsie, Alvina, Margarette, and twin infant girls.

Funeral:  Friday, July 8, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Minot. 

Visitation:  There will be no reviewal, but friends may sign the register Friday one hour prior to the service in the church. 

Burial: Friday at 1:30 p.m. at St. Martin’s Lutheran Cemetery, Anamoose, ND.

Memorials are preferred to St. Martin’s Lutheran Cemetery Fund, Anamoose, ND;  St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Minot, ND; or to an organization of the donor’s choice.

Following the service everyone is invited to join the family for lunch and fellowship in the church fellowship hall.

Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery prior to 1:30 p.m.  There will be no formal procession.

Our family would like to thank everyone for the many acts of kindness shown during this difficult time.  Your thoughts and prayers are deeply appreciated and will never be forgotten.  May God bless the memory of Clara Wohl!
