Richard W. Williams 1947 - 2011 Richard Warren “Rick” Williams was born October 6, 1947, a son of Robert and Sarah Kathleen (Roberts) Williams, in Mexico, Missouri. He was raised and educated in San Diego, CA. He graduated from Mar Vista High School in Imperial Beach, CA, in 1965. Following his high school graduation, he remained in Imperial Beach, CA, where he worked on various fishing boats. Rick enlisted in the United States Navy July 13, 1967. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged July 31, 1970. Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, he enrolled at San Diego State University, where he received his Aeronautical Engineering degree. While attending college, he worked at Rohr Industries as an electrician. Following his college graduation, he worked as an electronics technician at National Cash Register for a time. Rick married Sylvia E. Marcil April 12, 1980, in Bonita, CA. They made their home in San Diego, CA. In 1977, he began employment with General Dynamics, now known as Lockheed Martin, as an electronics test technician. He retired in 2004, after 27 years of service. They continued to reside in San Diego, CA, until November of 2007, when they moved to Minot. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars in San Diego and the Souris Valley Golf Course Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching sports, golfing, and his yellow lab, Lou Lou. His loving family includes: wife of 30 years, Sylvia, Minot; children, Robin Leigh (Anthony) Bridgewater, Minot, Kristen Dawn Kinsey, Yucaipa, CA, Kimberly (Robert) Zaragoza, Bakersfield, CA, Julie (Chris) Nelson, and Michael Gean Brown, McAllister, OK; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Rodney (Debby) Williams, Missouri; sisters-in-law, Sherry (Chuck)Aldrich, Minot, and Elena Jorgensen, Minot; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
