Douglas Williams Jr. 1966 - 2002

Douglas Williams Jr., 36, 1127 Valley View Dr., Minot, formerly of Willmar, MN, died Tuesday, October 22, 2002, at a Minot hospital of natural causes.

He was born March 21, 1966, in Jackson, MN, the son of Douglas Wayne and Sandra Mary (Sirovy) Williams. He was reared and educated in Willmar, MN and graduated from Willmar High School in 1984. While in high school Doug participated in various sports including hockey, football, baseball and boxing where he was an AAU Junior Olympics Golden Glove Bronze Medalist. On January 19, 1984, he married Jennifer Mary Nelson. After graduation Doug joined the Marine Corp and they were stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC.

In 1986, Doug transferred to the United States Air Force and they moved to Rapid City, SD, then to Clark Air Base in the Philippines and finally to the Minot Air Force Base. In 1994, Doug was honorably discharged from active service and was hired at the Minot Air Force Base as a civil service firefighter with the Air Combat Command 5th Bomb Wing. Before his death Doug was promoted to Lead Fire Fighter.

Doug was an avid sports fan and watched all the Minnesota's sporting events he could. He also enjoyed fishing, auto racing and he was always there to help his fellow comrades at the base.

Survivors: wife: Jennifer, Minot, Children, Aaron, Ashley and Alexa Williams at home; Parents, Douglas Wayne Sr. and his wife Sandra Mary Williams, Willmar, MN; brother, Shane Williams, Bismarck, ND; Grandmother, Viola Roslansky, Lakefield, MN; mother-in-law, Mary Nelson, New Hope, MN; several brothers and sisters-in-law; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins survive. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Otto and Mary Sirovy, Albert Williams and Deloy (Huntz) Roslansky, cousin Jackie Isebrand and father-in-law, Wayne Nelson.

Mass of Christian Burial: Saturday, October 26, 2002, at 10:30 a.m. at Little Flower Catholic Church, Minot.

Visitation: Friday, October 25, 2002, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Prayer Service: Friday, October 25, 2002, at 7 p.m. at Little Flower Catholic Church, Minot.

Cremation will take place after the funeral.
