Doug Willenbring 1965 - 2009

Doug Willenbring, 44, Minot, ND, died Sunday, September 13, 2009, in his home.

Douglas G. Willenbring was born August 16, 1965, a son of Donald and Donna (Hutton) Willenbring, in Minot, ND. He was raised on The "D" Dairy Farm near Foxholm. He attended Carpio Public School and graduated from Carpio High School in 1983. He had a passion for basketball.

Since his high school graduation, Doug had worked various jobs. The majority of his career was spent at Souris Valley Feed and Seed and Thompson Farms. Doug took great pride in watching the fields being harvested. He got immense joy from driving a combine.

His favorite hobbies included watching the Dallas Cowboys, and ice fishing. Doug had a soft heart and a gentle spirit. He enjoyed children and he took great joy in spoiling the children around him. Kids in the neighborhood will miss his Icees. He always took the time to help those he knew. He was known as "Uncle Dougie" by his nieces and nephews and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Surviving family includes: son, Nicholas, Surrey; father and step-mommy, Donald and Gaila Willenbring, Foxholm; brother, Donovan (Kolette) Willenbring, Glenburn; sisters, Diana (Tony) Fowler, Minot, Darla (Lance) Johnson, Glenburn, Doreen (Danny) Oliphant, Foxhome, MN, and Deb (Byron) Grabow, Hazen, ND. He was a gracious uncle to numerous nieces, and nephews.

Doug was preceded in death by his mother, Donna; and sister, Delora Willenbring.

Funeral: Thursday, September 17, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Minot.

Interment: St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Foxholm, ND.

Visitation: Wednesday from Noon to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Vigil Prayer Service: Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Memorials: Doug's family suggests memorial contributions be made to a Trust Fund for Doug's son, Nicholas, in care of Bremer Bank in Minot.
