Marie Louise Wiik 1912 - 2003 Marie Louise Wiik, 91, 800 16th Ave. SE, #75, Minot, died Thursday, December 18, 2003, in a Minot nursing home. Marie was born February 9, 1912, on the family farm, near Kenmare, ND, the daughter of Edward and Clara Korth. She was raised and educated in the Kenmare area and graduated from Kenmare High School. She attended the Trinity School of Nursing in Minot and graduated as a Registered Nurse. In 1943 she entered the United States Army Nurse Corps and was stationed at Camp Kilmer, New Jersey. She entered as Lieutenant and in 1946 was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain. On February 6, 1946, she married Henry "Hank" Wiik, at Zion Lutheran Church in Minot, with Pastor Larry Gudmestad officiating. They made their home in Wildrose until 1952 when they moved to Minot. Marie worked part-time as a Registered Nurse at Trinity Hospital in Minot, until retiring in 1969. Following retirement she traveled with her husband, while he was employed on the railroad. They lived in a caboose and traveled in Minnesota, North Dakota and Montana. Henry retired from the railroad in 1975 and they settled down in Minot. Marie was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church, Minot, and for the last six years has been a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Minot. Marie was very active in the church circle and quilting group. Even while traveling on the railroad with her husband, she was active in the rural church circles. Marie was also a member of the Trinity Alumni Association and the Mouse River District Nurses. Survivors: Husband, Henry "Hank" Wiik, Minot; sister, Bernice Patterson, Independence, OR; nieces, nephews and cousins also survive, and live in the St. Paul, MN, Independence, OR, Wisconsin and Connecticut areas. Marie was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral: Monday, December 22, 2003, at 11:00 a.m., at Christ Lutheran Church, Minot. Visitation: Saturday and Sunday, from noon to 5:00 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot. Burial: Lakeview Cemetery, Kenmare, ND. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS THE FAMILY PREFERS MEMORIALS TO TRINITY
