Ruby A. Wieseke 1912 - 2010

Ruby Wieseke PhotoRuby A. Wieseke, 97, Kenmare, formerly of Flasher, ND, died Saturday, July 3, 2010 in the Kenmare Hospital.

Ruby Avice Pulley was born November 14, 1912 on the family farm at Flasher, ND to Jesse and Alberta (Sawtell) Pulley.  She was raised on the family farm with her two brothers, Glenn and Clarence, and her sister, Dorothy.  She graduated from Flasher High School.

Ruby married Arthur Wieseke on February 8, 1950 in Bertha, MN.  They farmed outside of Kenmare until Art’s death on May 11, 1969.  She lived in Kenmare for a short time before moving back to Flasher, where she resided until moving back to Kenmare in 1996.

As a young girl Ruby was an active member of the Farmers Union, and acted as a Junior County Leader.  Ruby was a member of the United Church of Christ, and in her later years she was very active in the Senior Citizens in Flasher.

Ruby enjoyed sewing, knitting, and quilting in her spare time, but she was best known for her famous rag rugs she made on her loom.  Ruby began making rugs after she was married and continued making them even after she moved into the Kenmare Baptist Home in 2004.  Everyone in the family has a rag rug that Aunt Ruby made, even the relatives in Iowa and Colorado.

Those who shared in her life,  sister, Dorothy Cook, Kenmare; nieces, Susan (Curtis) Peterson and Diane Skalicky, all of Kenmare; nephews, Mark (Kathy) Cook, Kenmare, and Robin Cook, Elizabeth, CO; grand nieces, Crystal (Tim) Moorhead, Powers Lake, ND, Shannon (Tom) Binstock, South Heart, ND; grand nephews, Russell Cook, Aurora, CO, Troy (Ashley) Frisinger, Fargo, ND, Terry Skalicky, Sidney, MT, Kevin (Connie) Kurtz, Arvada, CO, Joshua (Kari) Cook, Kenmare, Jesse (Stephanie) Cook, Davenport, ND, Derek Peterson, Kenmare; six great nieces and eight great nephews.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arthur; brothers, Glenn and Clarence Pulley.

Funeral:  Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Evanger Lutheran Church, rural Norma, ND.

Visitation:  Wednesday, one hour prior to the service in the church.

Burial:  Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery, rural Norma, ND.
