Edward A. Wiedeman 1934 - 2005 Edward A. Wiedeman, 71, 1809 12 ½ St. SW, Minot, died Sunday, September 18, 2005, in a Minot hospital. Edward was born May 13, 1934 in Aberdeen, South Dakota, the son of Harold and Kathryn (Detling) Wiedeman. He attended school in Omaha, NE and later Dillworth, MN. While growing up he worked with his father at his father's service station. His junior year of high school he moved with his family to Minot and graduated from St. Leo's High School in 1952. While attending Minot State University, Ed worked for his father at 4th Avenue Conoco as well as B&B Drug in the sporting goods department. On May 1, 1954 he married Ione Sebby at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot. They made their home in Minot and he began employment at Northern States Power. He worked for NSP for 35 years until his retirement in 1990. Ed served with the North Dakota National Guard for nine years. He was active in the Elks Lodge where he enjoyed working on the entertainment committee for several years. He was also a member of the Eagle's Aerie. Ed enjoyed curling and was a member of the Minot Curling Club. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren fish while he putzed around at the cabin at Lake Sakakawea. Ed was an avid hunter for many years and loved to load his own shells. He enjoyed trap shooting and in recent years enjoyed target shooting at the Minot Pistol Club. Following retirement he enjoyed traveling with his wife, Ione and attending her antique button shows and meeting new friends. Survivors: Wife, Ione, Minot; children, Rick (Vickie) Wiedeman, Valley City, ND, and their children, Jennifer (Casey) Crews and James; Cindy (Bill) Ruelle, Minot, ND, and their children, Billy, Tyler and Karen; Jay Wiedeman, Minot, ND, and his children, Brandy, Amber and Tanner; mother, Kathryn Maggard, Minot; brother, Robert (MaryAnn) Wiedeman, Peoria, AZ; sister, Linda (John) Sorensen, Atlanta, GA; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins survive. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Wiedeman. Funeral: Thursday, September 22, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Minot, ND. Visitation: Wednesday, September 21, 2005, from noon to 7:00 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot. Burial: Friday, September 23, 2005 at 1:00 p.m., at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.
