Lowell E. Widmayer 1935 - 2009

Lowell E. Widmayer, 73, Granville, ND died Friday, January 30, 2009 at his home.

Lowell was born on February 24, 1935, a son of Fredrick and Maggie (Pietz) Widmayer in Rugby, North Dakota. He was raised and educated in North Dakota.

On March 2, 1955, he enlisted into the US Army. He proudly served his country before being honorably discharged on March 1, 1963.

Following his discharge, he worked as a laborer for various construction companies until his retirement.

He is survived by his brother Gary Widmayer, Granville, ND; sisters: Elsie Carlyle, Walla Walla, WA, Vera Kanen, Walla Walla, WA, Adalene Lubert, Santa Maria, CA, LoVetta Norgard, Minot, ND; Arlene Stanton, Fort Bragg, CA
Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Lowell was preceded in death by his parents, sister Viona Reinke and brother Clifford, Vernon and Albert.

Graveside service: Saturday, May 16, 2009 at 11 am at the Granville Community Cemetery, Granville

Burial: Granville Community Cemetery, Granville, ND

Officiant: Rev. Mary Miska, Pastor, First Lutheran Church, Granville, ND

Military Honors: Accorded by members of the North Dakota Army National Guard and members of the Granville American Legion Post #155

Immediately following the graveside service there will be lunch and fellowship at the Branding Iron.

The Widmayer family would like to thank everyone for the many acts of kindness shown to them during this difficult time. Your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated and will never be forgotten. May God bless the memory of Lowell.
