Thomas W. Whitty, 73, Minot, died Sunday, March 8, 2009 in his home.

Thomas was born on October 11, 1935, a son of Lawrence and Roberta (Shaefer) Whitty in Minot, ND. He was raised and educated in the Des Lacs area, graduating from Des Lacs High School in 1955.

On February 17, 1956, he enlisted into the US Army. He proudly served his country being honorably discharged on February 16, 1962.

Thomas was united in marriage to Linda Johnson in November, 24, 1970. They lived in Iowa, Williston, Minot and settled in Des Lacs. They later divorced.

Thomas was a member of the Minot Moose Lodge. He enjoyed golfing, shooting pool, playing Bingo and spending time with his grandchildren.

Daughters: CoDee A. (Mike) Wilson, Phoenix, AZ; Annette M. (Tim) Romo, Tracy, CA; five grandchildren: Tristan Romo, Carly Wilson, Scott Romo, Audrey Romo and Wyatt Wilson; brothers: Joe Whitty, Davenport, IA; Jim Whitty, Brainerd, MN; sisters: Mary Lou Haugen, and Sharon (Larry) Wilkes, both of Minot; companion: Vonda Rubbelke, Minot; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, wife Linda Whitty, brother-in-law Kenneth Haugen, sisters-in-law Sandy and Nancy Whitty.

Visitation: Thursday, March 12, 2009 from 2-7 at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot

Vigil Prayer Service: Thursday, March 12, 2009 at 7 pm at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot

Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, March 13, 2009 at 2 pm at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot

Burial: Will take place in the spring of 2009 at the Rolling Green Cemetery, Des Lacs, ND

The burial will take place at a later time in the spring.

The Whitty family would like to thank everyone for the many acts of kindness shown to them during this difficult time. Your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated and will never be forgotten. May God bless the memory of Thomas.
