Edward Werle 1928 - 2009

Edward Werle PhotoEdward Werle, 81, Upham, ND, died Tuesday, December 8, 2009 in his home.

Edward was born on November 6, 1928, a son of Irving and Clara (Ehlers) Werle near Upham, ND in McHenry County. He was educated through the eighth grade at Layton County School.  Edward farmed and ranched in the Upham area.

On September 11, 1964, he was united in marriage to Dora Drader Whiteford in Towner, ND. They made their home on the farm where they raised their family. Edward reported the weather to the National Weather Bureau and recently received an award for 30 years of service. He also worked at the Towner Nursery for 20 years and drove school bus for Upham School for 16 years.

Edward was a member of the New Hope Lutheran Church, Upham, ND.  He enjoyed fishing, working with his cattle and woodworking.

            Wife of 45 years, Dora, Upham, ND; sons: Curtis Werle, Granville, Rueben Drader, Valley City, ND; daughter: Peggy Byrd, Drake, ND; daughter-in-law: Nancy Werle, Granville; Eight grandchildren and their families: Robert Keyes, Jennifer (Derek)  Wangler and thier children Dalton, Brittany, Bladen and Kaitlyn, Michelle (Kyle Holen) Werle and their children Loren, Larry, Samara, Nathaniel, Lorie (Sloane) Jaeger and their daughter Aiyanna, Justin Werle, Darwin (Melissa Beesley) Werle, and thier children Raven and Gabe, Jason Werle; brother: Bill (Mary )Werle, Velva, ND; sister: Agnes Kennedy, Salt Lake City, Utah; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents, son Larry, brothers Harold, Irving (Clara), Charles and a sister Evelyn.

Visitation: Friday, December 11, 2009 from 2-7 at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot with a prayer service at 7 in the chapel.

Funeral Service:  Saturday, December 12, 2009 at 11 am at New Hope Lutheran Church, Upham, ND

Graveside service: Saturday at 1:30 pm at the Bantry Union Cemetery, Bantry, ND

Immediately following the funeral service there will be lunch and fellowship in the lower level of the church.

Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:30 pm; there will be no formal procession.

The Werle family would like to thank everyone for the many acts of kindness shown to them during this difficult time. Your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated and will never be forgotten. May God bless the memory of Edward.
