John A. "Jack"
Welton 1916 - 2004 John A. "Jack" Welton, 88, Minot, died Thursday, December 16, 2004, in a Minot hospital. John was born October 8, 1916, in Minot, ND, the son of Arthur J. and Sadie (Moore) Welton. He attended school at Maple Lake High School. John grew up in a farming background. On June 4, 1941, he entered the United States Army and served in the infantry, during World War II. He was honorably discharged January 26, 1946 and spent three years in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Fargo. John worked construction in North Dakota for several years as a form setter, and was employed by Northern Improvement. He was later employed in Minot by the Corps of Engineers, working as a civilian at the Minot Air Force Base. He later worked in Michigan, ND, for the Corps. For many years John managed and cared for several apartment complexes and investment properties in Minot. He entered Trinity Homes in 2004. John was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot. He was a life-member and 4th Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the Holy Name Society, 3rd Order, and held life-memberships in the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans. John was a former member of the Eagles Aerie and Moose Lodge, both of Minot. Those who shared in his life: Nephews, Monsignor Gary Bauler, Simi Valley, CA, and Timothy Bauler, Redondo Beach, CA, and several cousins in the Maple Lake and Buffalo, MN areas. John was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Sadie Welton; brothers, James "Jimmy" and Raymond Welton; and sister, Dorothy Bauler. Funeral Mass: Tuesday, December 21, 2004, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot, ND. Visitation: Monday, December 20, 2004, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot. Rosary recitation: Tuesday, December 20, 2004, at 10:00 a.m., at the church.
