Gladwin M. Weltikol 1916 - 2003

Gladwin M. Weltikol, 86, Minot, formerly of Berthold, died Saturday, May 10, 2003, in a Minot nursing home.

Gladwin was born May 17, 1916, in Plaza, ND, the son of Gilbert and Addie (Howard) Weltikol. He was educated in rural schools in the Plaza area.

He worked for Otto Engen many years. He married Laura Bjelland, August 9, 1941. They lived and farmed in the Tagus area for several years where he raised cattle and grain. He retired in 1983.

He attended St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Tagus, until it closed in 2001, and then became a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Berthold. He was a member of the Berthold Senior Citizens, the Moose Lodge and the Sons of Norway, both in Minot. He served on the Berthold Farmers Elevator board and Passport Township board for many years.

Survivors: Wife, Laura, Minot; daughters, Sharon (Harlan) Ulberg, Berthold, and Yvonne (Gary) Gravseth, Burlington; six grandchildren, Darwyn (Terrie) Ulberg, Kerry (Char) Ulberg, Hughie (Julie) Ulberg, Jane (Curt) Ross, Todd and Scott Gravseth; 10 great-grandchildren, Amber, Mallory and Austin Ulberg, Brayden, Cody and Laura Ross, Hallie and Jake Ulberg, and Jennie and Jorrie Bretin; brothers, Bennie, Gilbert and Lloyd Weltikol, all of Minot, and Donald Weltikol, Delavan, MN; sister, Bernice Fischer of Aberdeen, ID; several nieces and nephews survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and two sisters.

Funeral: Tuesday, May 13, 2003, at 10:30 a.m., at Zion Lutheran Church, Berthold, ND.

Visitation: Monday (today) from noon to 7:00 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND.

Burial: Tagus Cemetery, Tagus, ND.
