Jesse G. Weiss, 84, Minot, died Thursday, March 13, 2008 in a Minot hospital.

Jesse was born December 18, 1923 in Minneapolis, MN, the son of Gottlieb and Zealia B. (Early) Weiss. He was raised and educated in Velva and Minot, ND.

Jesse was united in marriage to Luella Grace Anderson on November 21, 1942 at Minot, ND.
On April 28, 1943 Jesse entered the United States Army and served with the Medical Corps in the Pacific during World War II. He was honorably discharged on December 17, 1945, and he returned to Minot.

Jesse was stockholder and secretary treasurer of Main Electric Construction Inc. and Holmes Electric. He was the accountant for Minot Hide and Fur and Minot Wrecking and Salvage for a number of years. Jesse's wife Luella passed away on January 15, 1977.

On August 31, 1979 Jesse married Viola (Adams) Bruins in Minot, ND. Viola passed away on July 25, 1994. Jesse continued to live in Minot until 2006, when he moved into the Souris Valley Care Center in Velva, where he since had lived.

Jesse was a member of Our Redeemer's Lutheran Brethren Church in Minot. He was active with the Shrine Club and the Masonic Lodge and was a member of the Elks Lodge, the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, all in Minot. Jesse was a ham radio operator and remained very active with that organization. He had farming interests in the Velva area and was an avid hunter.

Those who shared in his life, Sons, Bill Weiss, San Diego, CA and Bob (Becky) Weiss, Mankato, MN; stepsons, Leo (Sula) Bruins, Minot and Dick Bruins, Townsend, MT; five grandchildren, Christy (Neil) Tryhus, Owatonna, MN, Amy (Eric) Zachary, Blaine, MN, Eric Weiss, Waseca, MN, Elizabeth Weiss, San Diego, CA and Luke (Cari) Weiss, Calabasas, CA; seven great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

Jesse was preceded in death by his first wife, Luella; his second wife, Viola, and his parents.

Funeral: Monday, March 17, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Brethren Church, Minot.

Visitation: Sunday, March 16, 2008 from noon to 5:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND
