Lyle
C. "Bill" Weeks, 76, Minot, ND, died Friday, August
24, 2007, at his home.
Lyle was born on July 21, 1931, in Minot, ND, the son of Lee
Weeks and Ethel (Huntley) Weeks Hulet. He was raised on the family
farm south of Des Lacs and attended Rolling Green School through
the eighth grade and later graduated from Des Lacs High School.
Lyle entered the United States Army March 20, 1952, serving
during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged on March
9, 1954. After his discharge from the Army Lyle attended Minot
State University for two years and then transferred to North
Dakota State University, Fargo where in 1959, he received his
bachelors of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
Lyle moved to Los Angeles, CA in 1959, where he was employed
with the Los Angeles County Flood Control District. Lyle married
Gladys Slagle on August 19, 1961, in Beresford, SD. The couple
had four children together, Matthew, Angela, Amy and Anita. Lyle
moved his family back to Minot in 1971, where he was employed
by the City of Minot as a civil engineer Director of Public Works.
Lyle retired in 1991.
Lyle greatly enjoyed woodworking and volunteering for the Norsk
Hostfest. His favorite pastime was spending time at his cabin
on Lake Audubon with his family and friends and being entertained
by his grandchildren.
He was a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Minot,
the Minot American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the
Magic City Lions, where he was awarded a Melvin Jones Fellowship.
He was a former member of the Eagles Aerie and Elks Lodge, in
Minot. Lyle also served on the Ward County Water Resource Board.
Survivors: wife of 46 years, Gladys, Minot; son, Matthew
Lyle (June) Weeks, Bismarck, ND; daughters, Angela Marie (Dan)
Lukach, Jamestown, ND, Amy Louise (Scott) Bennett, Jamestown,
ND and Anita Lee (Brad) Mahnke, West Fargo, ND and ten grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Ethel, stepfather,
William Hulet and his brother, Earl Weeks.
Mass of Christian Burial: Monday, August 27, 2007, at
10:30 a.m. at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Minot
Visitation: Sunday, August 26, 2007, from Noon until 5
p.m. with a vigil prayer service at 5 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson
Funeral Home Chapel, Minot
Burial will take place immediately following the service
at Rolling Green Cemetery, Des Lacs, ND.
Memorials preferred to Trinity Hospice, Minot Catholic Schools
or the American Cancer Society.
