Lorraine Henrietta Weber 1924 - 2010 Lorraine was born on November 10, 1924 in Fergus Falls, MN, a daughter of Hans and Ella (Mertz) Hanson. The family moved to Minot when Lorraine was very young. She attended Minot High School, graduating in 1942. She worked for a time at Kively Jewelry, Kelly’s Bottle Shop and owned and operated the Broadway Motel. She was once married to Edgar Soltis. She was then married to Arthur Weber, whom she married on September 20, 1967. Arthur died on January 21, 1979. Lorraine was a very private and proud person. Every aspect of her life was focused on her sons, with little time left for anything else. Jim and Bob were her world and they loved her with equal intensity. They loved and respected her for being strict, but fair. They loved her for the sacrifices she made on their behalf. They loved and respected her because she knew how to forgive. Her boys were her life. In fact, her caregivers at Edgewood Vista would attest to her relentless pursuit of bringing every discussion, regardless of its original topic, back around somehow to her sons. She couldn’t help but share her pride and love, which was written all over her face, when one of them would walk into the room. The picture of joy they brought to her will remain a powerful memory to many of us. However, the picture is not complete without seeing her grandchildren and great grandchildren enter the room, as they were also her light. Lorraine was particularly proud of her flower gardens, both at her home and at the motel. She was an exceptional baker and cook. She made the best fudge in the world, chocolate chip cookies for her boys and the best potato salad and pork chops. Love. This was the overwhelming theme and guide in Lorraine’s life. Everyone who knew her always felt loved. This was her gift from our Lord. She loved easily and was easy to love. We will always remember and admire her strength and determination to remain a gracious and loving woman of God. Lorraine will remain forever a picture of love.
