Jeannine A. Watson 1929 - 2009

Jeannine A. Watson, 79, Minot, passed Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at her home in Minot.

Jeannine Adele Gibbons was born July 2, 1929 in Wahpeton, ND, a daughter to Bernal and Emma (Schroeder) Gibbons. She moved with her family to various North Dakota towns where her father worked. She attended school in the Kramer and Omemee, ND areas. They later moved to Lakota and she graduated from Lakota High School in 1947. She attended nursing school at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, but due to a vehicle accident she was unable to finish.

As a young woman, Jeannine worked as a telephone operator in Lakota where she met her future husband, Arnold Watson. They were married on June 19, 1949 in Lakota and spent 54 loving years together. They moved to Minot in 1950, where they purchased their first home and started a family. In 1960 they moved their family to Westhope, ND, where they lived until 1963, when they moved back to Minot. During this time she raised her family.

She went to work at the John Moses Veterans Hospital in Minot, where she worked as a telephone operator for several years. In 1972 she began working as a customs inspector, based at the Minot International Airport, where she worked until her retirement in 1995. Her husband Arnold passed on February 18, 2004.

Jeannine and Arnold were members of the Moose Lodge and the Eagle's Aerie. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved to sing, dance and play piano. She loved her family dearly, but her dogs, Tynee and Beep Beep were her friends. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, who will be deeply missed. The family would like to give a special thanks to Sheila Rioux for her special care and friendliness.

Those who shared in her life, daughter, Renae Hartin, Vacaville, CA; sons, Garry Watson and his special friend, Sheila Rioux, Minot and Dave (Stynette) Watson, Bismarck; grandchildren, Nicholas, Zachary, Sedona and Sterling Watson and Shaun (Kareena) Hartin; great-grandchildren, Daina, Rebecca, Damon, Trinity and Mitchell Hartin and Evan Watson; brother, Dr. Gary (Glenna) Gibbons, Alexandria, MN; numerous nieces and nephews survive.

Jeannine was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold; a granddaughter, Nicole Hartin; grandson, Michael Watson and her parents.

Funeral: Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Visitation: There will be no reviewal, but friends may sign the guest register Tuesday, one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Burial: North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND at a later time.
