Warnke • 1939 - 2004 Judith Grace "Judi" Warnke, 65, Minot, died Monday, June 28, 2004, in a Minot Medical Center, due to complications following heart bypass surgery. Judith was born June 14, 1939, in Tracy, MN, the daughter of Wilbert Simon and Bernita Grace (Madden) Vanderwerf. She attended school and graduated from Sleepy Eye, MN. On February 21, 1959, Judith married Melvin L. Warnke. They made their home in Mankato, MN, from February 1959 until October 1961. They moved to Fairbault, MN and lived there until December 1966. They then moved back to Mankato until August 1972. In 1972, they moved to Willmar, MN, and resided there until moving to Minot in April 1975. Judith and Melvin's seven children all graduated from Minot High School. While in Minot, Judith worked for Minot Laundry, the Elks Lodge, Piggly Wiggly, and Minot State University from 1997 to present. Melvin passed away on October 1, 1997. Judith was a member of First Lutheran Church of Minot. Judith is survived by her children: Michael and wife Shannon Warnke, Sioux Falls, SD, and son, Matthew, and their daughters, Amanda and Christina, Lori and husband Tim Opp, Bismarck, ND, and children, Kyle and Stacy, Kathi and husband Kevin Hilzendeger, Bismarck, and children Greg, Austin and Alex, David and wife Joan Warnke, Grand Forks, ND, and children Jason, Kevin and Rebecca, Julie and husband Mike Marchus, Minot, and children, McKayla and Matthew, and Steven and wife Jody Warnke, Minot, and children Halie and Jaycie Rostad; two great-grandchildren, Mitchel Warnke and Hunter Warnke; mother, Bernita Vanderwerf, Sleepy Eye, MN; brothers, Gary (Jody) Vanderwerf, Windom, MN, Roy (Sally) Vanderwerf, Minneapolis, MN, Twollie Vanderwerf, Burnsville, MN, and Kevin (Kim) Vanderwerf, Oro Valley, AZ; sisters, Donna Frost, Brooklyn Center, MN, Janice (Dennis) Krueger, Willmar, MN, and Geraldine Schaikoski, Fairmont, MN. Numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Warnke; son, Robert Warnke; and father Wilbert Simon Vanderwerf. Funeral: Thursday, July 1, 2004, at 11:00 am at First Lutheran Church, Minot, ND. Visitation: Wednesday, June 30, 2004, from noon until 7:00 pm at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home.
