Hazel Ward 1907 - 2003

Hazel Ward, 95, Minot, died Monday, September 29, 2003, at a Minot nursing home.

She was born October 10, 1907, in Minot, the daughter of Andrew and Caroline (Egilson) Knudson. She was reared and educated in Minot.

She married William "Bill" Robert Ward on October 24, 1927, in Minot at St. Leo's Catholic Church. Hazel went to work for the Mandan Creamery in Minot and during World War II, she worked at Westlie Motor Company. After the war Hazel worked for Ellisons Department Store, D & S Bootery and then J. C. Penney Company Inc. as a shoe salesperson. William died on July 24, 1975, in Minot.

She was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church and the Sweet Adelines both Minot. Hazel enjoyed working with ceramics and she loved to fish.

Survivors: son, William "Pat" (Mary Joe) Ward, Big Fork, MT; daughter, Sharon (Albert) Bossert, Drake, ND; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; brothers, Arnold Knudson, Seattle, WA, and Lyle (Mickie) Knudson, Minot; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, Mary Jean Wentz, parents, sister, Mae Himmelman, and brother Calvin Knudson.

Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, October 3, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot.

Visitation: Thursday, October 2, 2003, from noon until 5 p.m. at Thompson-Larson funeral Home, Minot.

Rosary Recitation: Friday, October 3, 2003, at 10 a.m. at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot.

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
