Gladys was born on January 19, 1907, to Fred and Harriet (Hazelwood) Dilworth in Bowbells, ND. She attended and graduated from Bowbells High School. She had one sister, Emma Siemers, who passed away in 2001.

She met Paul Walker, from Kenmare, and they were married on October 30, 1935. They lived on a farm just outside of Kenmare until Paul was killed in a farm accident, in 1972, and then she moved into town.

Gladys worked for Dr. Lloyd Kjos, in Fred Luth's restaurant, and at Ann's Dress Shop for 16 years. She was always active in Ladies Aid, and belonged to the Methodist Church. Also, she was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star, serving as a past matron and district deputy; and was a charter member of the Rainbow Girls, where she was both a local and state mother advisor, along with a membership in Senior Citizens.

Throughout her life, Gladys was a talented seamstress. She loved quilting, crocheting, tatting, and any type of craftwork. She also enjoyed games, cards, and bingo and spent many hours "playing" and visiting with her friends.

Although Gladys had no children, she did have a niece and two nephews whom she thought of as her own. And, when these three had children, they became her family too. They all lovingly referred to her as their "Auntie Guy."

She is survived by her niece, Karen Ely and husband, Charles, Mt. Shasta, CA; nephews, Jerry Siemers and wife, Maureen, Houston, TX, Mark Siemers, Bowbells, ND, and Sandy Siemers, Bismarck, ND; 11 great nieces and nephews, 15 great-great nieces and nephews, and two great-great-great nieces.

For the past few years, Gladys lived at the Kenmare Hospital Skilled Care Unit, where she made new friends and was well taken care of by the thoughtful staff. On June 14, 2003, she left this earthly life.

She will be missed by her family and friends, but they know that "when someone you love becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure."

Following the service everyone is invited to join the family in the lower level of the church for fellowship and lunch.
