Dorothy Walker, 91, Minot, ND, died Friday, February 29, 2008, in a Minot hospital.

Dorothy E. Dixon was born June19, 1916, the daughter of Clarence and Elizabeth (Behm) Dixon in Forfar, ND. She attended school in Forfar until the seventh grade and then transferred to Lansford, ND, where she graduated from Lansford High School in 1935.

She moved to Minot, where she worked as a housekeeper and had baby sat for several Minot families.

Dorothy was united in marriage to Lyle Walker July 15, 1937, in Minot. They made their home in Minot until 1942, when they moved to Bucyrus, Ohio. She had worked in a sewing factory for a short time before returning to Minot, in 1944, where she worked as a waitress and bartender. Lyle passed away August 12, 1999.

She was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ as well as the VFW Post #753 Ladies Auxiliary, both of Minot. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, bowling, and playing cards.

Dorothy wanted to thank Nancy Strand, Donna Bistis, and Helen Bistis for all their kindness, love and care.

Surviving family includes: her very dear friend, Nancy (Darwin) Strand, Minot; nieces, Helen Bistis, Minot, Donna Bistis, Minot, Mae Gardner, West Chicago, Illinois, Clara Bergman, Burbank, CA, Carol Roberts, Fountain, CO, and Delores Selfors, Minot; nephews, Kenneth Walker, Fullerton, CA, Larry Priebe, Austin, MN, Al Priebe, Perham, MN, James Baker, Minot, John and Jerry Baker, both of Sawyer; aunt, Ethel Behm, Burlington, ND; and several cousins.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lyle; sister, Bernice Helseth; and brother, Vernon Dixon.

Funeral: Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at Congregational United Church of Christ, Minot.

Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.

Visitation: Tuesday from Noon to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Memorials: Dorothy's family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Congregational United Church of Christ, Minot.
