Anthony "Tony" W. Wald 1921 - 2005

Anthony "Tony" W. Wald, 84, Karlsruhe, ND, died Friday, December 30, 2005, at a Minot hospital.

He was born on September 13, 1921, in Karlsruhe, ND. He was the youngest child of John and Appallonia (Usselman)Wald. He attended schools in Karlsruhe and after graduation enlisted in the United States Navy on August 21, 1942. Tony was stationed at Coronado Island in San Diego, CA. He married Helen Ann Schmidt in 1943 and together they had three daughters. After his service in the Navy ended on December 1, 1945, he settled in Portland, OR. He attended college in Alhambra, California where he obtained his Mortician's License. He became a Deputy coroner for Multnomah County in Portland, OR. After 20 years he retired and went into the Real Estate Business. He became Vice-President and General Manager of Tualatin Development Company, which built "King City" (a retirement community) in Tigard, OR. After his many years with King City, he obtained his Appraisal License and continued to work with properties in the Portland area.

At age 72, Tony decided to "retire" permanently and returned to his birthplace of Karlsruhe. HE spent the next 12-years enjoying being with his many nieces and nephews and cousins. He enjoyed this tools, wood-working and working around his home. He also was the Tax Assessor for Karlsruhe. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and had been a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors: daughters, Diane Allais-Turnino, Portland, OR, Karen Osborn, Highland, CA, and Nancy Bergeron, Portland, OR; sisters, Appie Meyer, Waterford, MI, grandchildren, Kevin Allais, Renee Martian, David Osborn, Julie Breen, Michelle Bergeron and Craig Osborn; eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by granddaughter, Tanya Osborn, his sister, Ann Kraft, his brothers, Joe, John, Mike, Frank, Pius, Felix, Ambrose and George Wald and his parents.

Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, January 6, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Karlsruhe.

Visitation and Prayer Service: Thursday, January 5, 2006, from Noon until 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel in Minot with Prayer Service at Rosary at 6 p.m.

Burial: Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery, Karlsruhe.

In Lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Karlsruhe.
