Jennie Vedvig PhotoJennie O. (Olson) Vedvig, 95, Minot, ND, died Saturday, January 16, 2010, in a Minot hospital.

Jennie O. Olson was born September 12, 1914, a daughter of Anton and Anna (Amlien) Olson, in Toten, Norway. She was raised and educated in Deering, ND.

She became a naturalized U.S. citizen on September 15, 1924.

She served in the U.S. Navy from 1944-1945 stationed in Seattle, Washington.  She was honorably discharged at the rank of seaman second class.

She worked as a nurse’s aid in western Montana (1955-1963) and in Minot, North Dakota (1968-1974).  During this time she was also self-employed from time to time selling Avon and Home Interior products.

She was married to Carl S. Vedvig from 1971 to 1977.

She was a member of the Church of Christ in Minot.

Surviving family includes:  sister, Alice McLaughlin, California; sister-in-law, Edith Olson, Deering; nephew, David Olson; and niece, Lisa.

Jennie was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Leonard and Melvin Olson; and sister, Alma Zierk.

Funeral: Wednesday, January 20, 2010, at 3:00 p.m. at Church of Christ, 1315 1st St. NE, Minot.

Interment:
  Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot, ND.

Visitation: 
Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
