Joan D. Vedaa • 1938 - 2010 Joan Deloris Melin was born October 16, 1938 in Kenmare, ND to Isaac and Gertrude (Schaner) Melin. She was raised on the family farm near Norma, ND, and graduated from Kenmare High School in 1958. On September 3, 1961, Joan married LeRoy Vedaa, Jr. at Stanley, ND. Following their marriage they lived in several different cities across the United States where LeRoy was stationed in the Navy. Together they had one daughter, Trisha. Joan was very faithful to her family and was always there for them. Her husband died on September 18, 1974. Following his death she moved to Stanley, ND, where she worked as a waitress for a time. She moved to Max, ND for a short time. Joan and her daughter Trisha entered Trinity Nursing Home together. Trisha died on February 15, 2005. Joan continued to live there until the time of her death. Joan loved traveling, and often traveled with her daughter, Trisha, and two sisters, Dorothy and Winnie. Joan was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy; daughter, Trisha; brother, Frances Melin; sisters, Dorothy Melin and Anna Lee. Funeral: Monday, March 8, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Homes Chapel, Minot, ND. Visitation: Monday, one hour prior to the service at Trinity Homes Chapel. Burial: Fairview Cemetery, Stanley, ND in the spring. Officiant: Rev. Luther Hanson, Chaplain, Trinity Homes Music Honorary Bearers: Alan Clark, Lynn Clark, Jamie Lee, Curtis Kohler, LeRoy Ringsaker, John Ringsaker, Clinton Kohler, Corwin Kohler Following the service in the chapel, everyone is invited to join with the family in the fellowship area of the chapel for a time of refreshment and fellowship.
