Coyla Varty 1915 - 2011 Coyla Josephine Lindbo was born May 9, 1915, near Pleasant Lake, North Dakota. She was the first of 10 children born to Tom and Mary (Carlson) Lindbo. She was raised and educated in Douglas, and was confirmed at Spring Lake Lutheran Church near Douglas. Coyla married Ernest E. Varty March 21, 1935. Together they raised seven children. Coyla worked very hard and spent many hours spoiling her family with homemade breads, pies, and also lefse. Her pride and joy was her family. Ernest passed away January 17, 1986. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was superintendent and taught Sunday school. She was also an active member the church devotion study group, as well as the Army Mothers, the Homemaker’s Club, and Rebekah’s Lodge. She also couldn’t resist a good rummage sale, or a cup of good, black coffee. We all deeply miss this wonderful lady. She truly had a deep faith in God and always said, “God only gives you what he knows you can handle.” Coyla is survived by: one son, Ernie (Marilyn) Varty, Little Falls, MN; three daughters, Ivadell (Orlin) Larson, Washburn, ND, Verna (Dale) Ballard, Bellingham, WA, and Deb (Duane) Houdek, Bismarck; daughters-in-law, Trudy Varty, Glenburn, Joan Varty, Minot and Myrtice Ecklund, Wilton; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one great great grandson; sister, Ruby Williams, Des Lacs, ND; brother, Myron “Pete” Lindbo, Fairview, UT and several nieces and nephews ?? Visitation: Wednesday from 2 to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot. Interment: Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.
