Julianna Van Hove 1943- 2009

Julianna Van Hove PhotoJulianna Van Hove, 66, Minot, ND, passed away peacefully in a Minot hospital Thursday, October 22, 2009, with family present.

She was born August 26, 1943, in Sherman Township, Bottineau County, North Dakota to Edmund and Augusta (Dalebout) Van Hove.

Julianna attended a rural Sherman Township grade school and graduated from Mohall High School in 1963.  Julie was active in 4-H and did a great deal of the cooking and farm chores while growing up.  After high school graduation Julie stayed on the farm and helped her Dad and brother Harry after the illness and eventual death of her mother.  The three of them moved from the farm into Mohall in 1976.  After their father’s death Harry and Julie moved to Minot in 1993, and in 1997 they both moved to Henry Towers in Minot, where Julie lived until recent illness forced her to move to ManorCare Health Services in September, 2009.

Julie enjoyed the company of a special friend, Jim Peterson, for many years.  Julie, Jim and Harry did a great deal of traveling around North Dakota and the United States, which Julie truly enjoyed.  She could remember all the details of each trip.  She also enjoyed Dalebout family reunions, antique tractor shows in Crosby and Makoti, Mohall’s all-school reunions, celebrations in other area towns and Sunday drives in country, which prompted her to declare Mouse River Park near Tolley as the best kept park in Renville County.

While living at Henry Towers, Julianna was active in the tenant’s association, serving as an officer.  She helped with the parties and worked serving the Meals on Wheels that were served in the community room.  She enjoyed following her favorite sports teams, playing cards, working puzzles, her computer, reading, watching TV and playing Bingo.  Julie was especially talented in crocheting and made many doilies and tablecloths.  She was proud of her nieces and nephew and their families.  She attended Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Minot.

Her surviving family includes sister, Mary Forness of Minot and brother, Carl (Gail) Van Hove of Ft. Lupton, CO.  Nieces, Jenice (Curt) Schall, Linda (Vernon) Emerson, Verla (Jim) Rostad, Marlys (Todd) Magnuson, Naomi (special friend, Brian Smyle) Van Hove and Teresa Van Hove and nephew Edmund (Margaret) Van Hove and several great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, infant brother, Jules Van Hove, brother, Harry Van Hove, brother-in-law, John Forness, and special friend, Jim Peterson.
