Corinne Van Berkom 1922 - 2009 Corinne E. Pankratz was born June 11, 1922, a daughter of Henry and Hannah (Hofer) Pankratz in Garrison, ND. She was raised and educated in Garrison, graduating from Garrison High School in 1940. Following her high school graduation, she moved to Minot with her parents and attended Minot Business College. She then worked at Sterns Beverage for a time. On June 11, 1946, she married Willis E. Belcher in Minot. She and Dr. Belcher owned and operated an Optometry Practice in Minot until his death in February of 1974. Together they had adopted two children, Kimberly and Steven. She married Roy Van Berkom February 13, 1978, in Minot. They made their home in Minot, where she enjoyed caring for her home and garden. Her favorite pastimes were Bingo and playing bridge. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Minot, the VFW Auxiliary, and at one time was a member of the ND Optometric Association Auxiliary. She loved spending time with her children and their families. She especially enjoyed all the time she was able to spend with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving family includes: husband, Roy, Minot; children, Kimberly (Noel) Hanenberg, Drake, ND, Steven (Mona Ray) Belcher, Minot, Steve (Debbie) Van Berkom, Mandan, ND, Sandra (Rob) Nelson, Wenatchee, WA; Mike (Gina) Van Berkom, Bremerton, WA; Jeff (Tonna) Van Berkom, Minneapolis, MN; 14 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Corinne was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Willis; and brother, Vincent Pankratz. Funeral: Saturday, June 20, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at
St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Minot.
