Frank VanBeck 1909 - 2004

Frank VanBeck, 95, Kenmare, ND, died Sunday, December 12, 2004, in a Mohall Nursing Home.

Frank VanBeck was born May 13, 1909, in Norway, Michigan, the son of Alphonse and Delphine (Steensen) VanBeck. At the age of five, he moved with his family to Kimberly, Wisconsin. He was reared and educated in Kimberly and graduated from high school there.

He was once married to Josephine Demaire. They later divorced. Frank worked for the Hudson Motor Car Company for thirty years in Detroit, MI. Following his retirement he moved to San Diego, CA where he was the athletic director for 15 years at San Diego State College. Upon his retirement, he moved to Sarasota, Florida. He married Hettie and she later passed away. Frank continued living in Sarasota until 2000, when he moved to the Baptist Home in Kenmare and later the Good Samaritan Center in Mohall

Survivors: daughter, Helen Nielsen and her husband Erven, Powers Lake; seven grandchildren, Gloria (Rici) Larman, Marie Jo (LeRoy) Mogren, Erven (Sandy) Nielsen, Roxanne (Jeff) Hanson, Patricia (Steve) Jensen, Chris (Tere) Nielsen and Fran (Chuck) Stewart; 23 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; Kim, Kit and Kurt Keller; brother, Amede Hofkins, Nampa, ID; and sister, Leona Kleber, Grants Pass, OR.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alphonse and Delphine VanBeck; wife, Hettie; sister, Mary Matheny; and great-great-grandson, Dawson Thompson.

Mass of Christian Burial: Wednesday, December 15, 2004, at 10:30a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, Powers Lake, ND.

Burial of Cremains: St. James Catholic Cemetery, Powers Lake, ND;

Visitation: Friends may sign the register book one hour prior to the prayer service or funeral service.

Vigil Prayer Service and Recitation of the Holy Rosary: Tuesday, December 14, 2004 at 8:30 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church, Powers Lake.
