Ella Undhjem 1911 - 2008 Ella J. Christensen was born December 17, 1911, a daughter of Fred and Sina (Johnson) Christensen, in Flaxton, ND. She was baptized and confirmed Lutheran in Flaxton. She graduated from Flaxton High School in 1929. Ella married Melford Undhjem April 25, 1934. They made their home on a farm where they farmed small grains and raised livestock. She had also taught in rural schools for six years, worked as a clerk at a grocery store and as a substitute Post Master at the Flaxton Post Office. She was a township officer in Dale Township, Burke County, for 34 years. In 1974, they retired from farming. In 1978, they moved to Williston. Melford passed away May 26, 1997. She had continued to reside in Williston until 2000, when she moved to Minot. She had resided at Somerset for a few years, and most recently resided at Trinity Homes. She was a member of United Lutheran Church in Flaxton, and Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Williston, and was active in their women's organizations. She was also a member of the Dakota Prairie Quilter's Guild of Williston. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening, raising flowers, knitting, crocheting, embroidery. She was known for her beautiful quilts and afghans. Surviving family includes: sister-in-law, Lois Christensen,
Minot; Ella was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melford; brother, Kenneth Christensen and Rueben Christensen; and sister, Laura Christensen. Funeral: Saturday, December 20, 2008, at 11:00 a.m.
