Margaret Tyson, 87, Minot, formerly of Bergen, ND, Verendrye, ND, and Seattle, WA, died Monday, August 13, 2007, in a Minot nursing home.

Margaret Elizabeth Schan was born January 25, 1920, the daughter of Frank and Helen (Baumstark) Schan in Lebanon Township of McHenry County, rural Karlsruhe, ND. She was raised and educated in Verendrye, ND. As a young adult, after her mother passed away, she assisted in keeping the family together and had helped other area families.

Margaret was united in marriage to Emmit LeRoy Tyson November 27, 1941, in Towner, ND. They moved to Minot, where Emmit began employment with the Great Northern Railroad. They made their home in Minot until 1962, when Emmit's job took them to Everett, WA, and finally Interbay Seattle, WA. Together they had eight children. They returned to North Dakota in October of 1981, and made their home in Bergen. Emmit passed away July 19, 2001. Following her husbands death, she moved to Minot, and resided at Somerset Court for a year before residing at ManorCare Health Services for the past five years.

She was a former member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Seattle, WA, and its altar society. She was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Velva, and also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Velva, and the Royal Neighbors of America.

She enjoyed word search and jigsaw puzzles, gardening, and her flowers. She also enjoyed staying active at ManorCare with bingo and serving on the resident council.

Her loving family includes: children, Donald LeRoy Tyson and his wife, Sandra, Kent, WA, Robert Frank Tyson Bergen, ND, Tom Walter Tyson, Shelton, WA, Helen Ziegler and her husband, Kasper, Minot, Sandra Boe, Minot, Patricia Just and her husband, William, Kenmore, WA, and Margaret Larsen and her husband, Larry, Lynnwood, WA; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Rosamond Schan, Minot, and Anna Schan, Dalton Heights, ID; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Emmit; infant son, Dale; sisters, Clara Schan, Barbara Sattler, Mary Meyer, and Rose Wood; and brothers, Matthew, John, Michael, Frank, Joseph, Nicholas, and Raymond Schan.

Funeral: Saturday, August 18, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot.

Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.

Visitation: Friday from Noon to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Rosary/Vigil Prayer Service: Friday at 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
