Margaret "Peg" Tyler 1917 - 2011

Peg Tyler PhotoMargaret “Peg” Tyler, 93, Minot, formerly of Lansford, passed away, Sunday, January 30, 2011 in a Minot nursing home.

Margaret “Peg” Argersinger was born March 11, 1917 in Forman, ND to Clarence and Nina (Dada) Argersinger.  She graduated from Forman High School and received her Standard Teaching Certificate from Minot State College in 1937.  She taught three years in the Lansford Public School and one year at Mt. Rose Consolidated School.

Margaret was united in marriage to Floyd “Doc” Tyler on June 9, 1940 in Forman.  They lived and raised their family in Lansford and spent many winters traveling throughout the United States.  From 1979 until 2005, Peg spent winters in Mesa, Arizona.  Doc passed away on January 28, 1984.

Peg was an active member of the United Methodist Church and charter member and past president of the United Methodist Women, Lansford.  She was also a charter member and past president of the Women’s Society of Christian Service and was presented with Special Recognition for Service to Missions in 1990.  Peg sang in the church choir and also sang at funerals for many years, and taught Bible School.  She was a life member and past matron of the Order of Eastern Star, the Lansford Senior Citizens, the Lansford Country Club and several bridge clubs.  She was also a past secretary of the Northwest North Dakota Girl Scout Council.

Peg’s greatest joy in her later life was following the accomplishments of her grandchildren; she was always thrilled to hear of their studies, travels and employment and enjoyed their phone calls and visits immensely.

Peg is survived by two daughters, Nina (Tom) Hale, San Diego, CA and Peggy (Ronald) Undlin, Lansford, ND, and one son, Fredrick (Janaan) Tyler, Lansford; grandchildren, John (Galit) Hale, San Diego, Judy Hale (Randy) Culver, San Diego, Heidi Undlin (Brian) Stevens, Grand Forks, Heather Undlin (Matt) Martin, Lansford, Holly Undlin, Grand Forks, David Undlin, Lansford, Kevin (Katie) Tyler, Lansford, Keith Tyler, Minneapolis, MN, Katie Tyler, Minot and Kerri Tyler, Minneapolis, MN; great-grandchildren, Connor and Callie Martin, Jack and Hayley Stevens, Claire and Norah Hale, Dayton Tyler, Garrett Culver and two expected in the spring; two sisters, Mary Leslie and Doris Morrow; brother-in-law, Don Parrow, Minot and numerous nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister, Carol Parrow, brothers-in-law, Alex Leslie and Roy Morrow.

Funeral:  Saturday, February 5, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at United Methodist Church, Lansford, ND.

Visitation and prayer service:  Visitation will be Friday, from noon to 5:00  p.m. with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m., all at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND.

Burial:  Lansford Community Cemetery in the spring.
