Minot - James H. Turner Jr., 92, Minot, ND, died Sunday afternoon, Feb. 1, 2004 in his home.
Jim was born March 19, 1911, at Gilbert, MN to Carrie Ericson and James H. Turner Sr. He grew up in various cities in Colorado and in Grand Forks, ND where he graduated from high school and attended the University of North Dakota.

Prior to serving in New Guinea in the Army during World War II, Jim worked with the Great Northern Railroad in North Dakota and Minnesota. After his discharge, he continued his work with the railroad until retiring as a Division Engineer from the railroad in 1974.

He was united in marriage to Bernadette Rademacher on March 10, 1945 at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. They made their permanent residence with their family in Minot in 1954 by way of Grand Forks and St.Paul, MN.

He was a member of AARP's where he served for a time as the local treasurer. He designed the track layout for the Roosevelt Park Magic City Express Train and came up with the design for the water tank at the park. He also presented the idea and the design for the park's sundial. He had a wide range of interests which included playing piano, opera, visits to the library, astronomy, home handyman, all sorts of science endeavors, and a lifelong love for walking. He loved to learn and could always be seen with a book. Most of all, he loved his family.

He is survived by one son, Mark (Diana) Turner and their son Nathan; 4 daughters, Karma Gumbert and her children John (Coralie) and Kerri (Aaron Ebertowski), Alayne (Ron) Okland and their children Lindsy, Casey, and Karli, all of Minot, Marilynn (Chuck) Simpson and their son Jared of Watford City, ND and Valerie (Jim) Hanson and their children Jennifer (Jeff Connelly) and Megan of Sun Prairie, WI; 5 great grandchildren Brennen, Kaylynn, Hannah, Shelby, and Mataya.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; brothers Donald and Keith; and sister Corrine.

Visitation service: Friday, February 6, 2004 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Thompson Larson Funeral Home. Family will be present.

Funeral service: Private family service Saturday, February 7, 2004.

Burial: Rosehill Cemetery, Minot, ND

Memorials: are preferred to the 2nd Story Social Club in Minot, ND.
