Alexander M. "Alex" Tuchscherer 1913 - 2004

Alexander M. "Alex" Tuchscherer, 91, Minot, was called home to God's house on Sunday, September 26, 2004.

Alex was born on June 11, 1913 in Towner, ND to Mathias and Marion (Laturness) Tuchscherer. He was educated in his early years in Guthrie and later the family moved to the family homestead in Rosebush Township, near Orrin, ND, where he graduated from the 8th grade. He farmed with his father until he was drafted into the United States Army in 1942. He served as a military policeman and was stationed in various locations, including, Washington State, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, and Anchorage, Alaska. He especially enjoyed Alaska and told many stories of his stay there. Upon his honorably discharge in 1945, he returned to his first love, which was the farm. He later met and married Ann Bachmeier, his wife of 46 loving years, on April 8, 1953. They made their home on the family homestead and remained there until 1957 when they moved to Minot. He worked as a laborer at North Dakota Concrete and later as a maintenance engineer at St. Joseph's Hospital until he retired in 1979. Ann entered eternal life on October 31, 1999 and was deeply missed by Alex and her family.

Alex was a charter member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot, and was active in the church as an usher and was also a Holy Name Society member. He was also an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Alex was an easy going, fun loving person who was liked by all who knew him. He was very proud of his only daughter, Carol, and showed his love often for her. She blessed him with a wonderful son-in-law and three beautiful grandchildren who were the lights of his life. When his grandchildren were around him he was at his very best. He cherished the time he spent with his family and friends, and was always the first one to volunteer to help with anything. He always had a kind word and a bright smile for everyone. He used to like to ice fish with his brother-in-law Seb, and he always had a fish story to tell. He was a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather and will be deeply missed by all.
