Dennis "Dr. T" Trzpuc, M.D., 63, 1300 14th Ave. SE, Minot, ND, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2006, in his home.

Dennis James Trzpuc was born on May 3, 1942, the son of Harold and Angela (Weinmann) Trzpuc in Edgeley, ND. He graduated from Wilton High School in 1960. He received his B.A. degree from Dickinson State Teachers College in 1964, and in 1966, received his B.S. degree in Medicine from the University of North Dakota School of Medicine in Grand Forks, ND. He then attended Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, MI, and received his Medical degree in 1968. He served his internship at St. Luke's Hospital in Fargo, ND, from 1968-69.

Dennis married Patty Pietsch on June 8, 1968, in Minot, ND. From this marriage, three children were born, Shelley, Trent, and Blake. Patty passed away on November 27, 1995.
He was drafted into the United States Air Force on July 25, 1969. He was honorably discharged as a Captain on July 24, 1971.

Following his discharge from the U. S. Air Force, Dennis was accepted into the Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program at the Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis, IN. He completed his residency in 1974, and moved to Minot. He held his M.D. licensure in Indiana and North Dakota from 1969 to present.

Dr. T (as he was known by his friends and colleagues) had previously been a staff member at St. Joseph's Hospital and Trinity Medical Center in Minot, ND. He was an affiliated member of Medical Arts Clinic, Minot, and had served as chairman of the Radiology Department in Minot from 1985-93. He had also been a staff member at St. Alexus Medical Center in Bismarck, ND, Mercy Medical Center in Williston, ND, and several other community hospitals in North Dakota.
Dennis married Betty Barber on February 14, 2000, in Minot, at St. Leo's Catholic Church. They made their home in Minot. He was currently a self-employed locum at the Belcourt Indian Hospital, Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby, Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake, and Fairlight Medical Imaging in Williston.

He was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church, and was a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus, Minot. He was also a member of the American Medical Association, the North Dakota Medical Association, the Northwest District Medical Society, the American College of Radiology, and the North Dakota College of Radiology, where he had served as a past president.

Dennis led a life of serving others professionally and personally with a strong sense of faith. He always has a rosary or two in his cars to use and pray in his travels. He was a family man with a heart of gold and treated everyone equally. Friends and family knew his humor and warm concern of others. He always made the time to stop and speak to colleagues, friends and patients he knew. He touched more lives than we will ever know. He had a special love and compassion for children, "little ones" and animals, especially cats. He enjoyed collecting old cars (snag-wagons) and would volunteer to clerk at the Northern Auction car sales. His hobbies included picking Juneberries off his trees, playing the piano and traveling. His favorite travel destination was "Viva Las Vegas." Collecting gemstones and designing jewelry was his true passion.

Surviving family includes: his loving wife, Betty, Minot; children, Shelley (Hani) Trzpuc, Franklin, TN, Trent Trzpuc, Milwaukee, WI, Blake Trzpuc, Plymouth, MN, and Shane (Michelle) Barber, Minot;
grandchildren, Alissa, Macee, and Jenna; brothers, Dean (Gayle)Trzpuc, Brainerd, MN, John (Elaine) Trzpuc, Center, ND, and Terry (Jeral Jan) Trzpuc, Washburn, ND; sisters, Sharon (Jim) Muth, Hettinger, ND, and Shawn Trzpuc, Portland, OR; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leo and Vi Ceglowski; niece, Stefnee; and nephews, Chris, Jeremy (Kristi), Jason and Brian.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; late wife, Patty; and many beloved cats.

Mass of Christian Burial: Monday, April 17, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot.

Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.

Visitation: Sunday from Noon to 5 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Vigil Prayer Service: Monday at 10:15 a.m. at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Leo's Catholic Church, the Souris Valley Humane Society, or Reach to Recovery/Women's Way.
