E. Lucille Torgusen 1911- 2010 Ethel Lucille Routledge was born June 12, 1911 in Minot, ND, to George and Myrtle (Townsend) Routledge. She grew up on the family farm near Lansford and attended Lansford Public School, where she graduated in 1931. She then attended Minot Normal School, before moving to Portland, Oregon where she worked. Lucille returned to Lansford where she met Bernard “Bennie” Torgusen of the Watford City area. They were married in 1942 and lived and farmed in the Lansford area, where they settled after the war. After retirement they purchased a home in Apache Junction, Arizona, where they spent many enjoyable winters. Bennie died in 1988. Lucille continued to be an Arizona “Snowbird” until 1995, when she moved to Minot to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Craig Van Sickle. They moved to the Sawyer area in 2002, and she continued to live with them until 2009, when she moved into the Souris Valley Care Center in Velva, ND. Those who shared in her life, daughters, Bonnie (Craig) Van Sickle, Sawyer, ND, Charlotte (Jim) Claysmith, Corning, CA, Gail (Alan) Rodgers, Idaho Falls, ID; granddaughter, Stephanie (Bill) Bennis; grandsons, Shane (Marie) Talley, Todd Sandve, Chris (Karyn) Claysmith, Andrew Rodgers and Shiloh Rodgers and several great-grandchildren; sister, Rosalie Marble, Central Valley, UT; numerous nieces and nephews. Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Bennie; grandson, Jason Sandve; her parents; sister, Florence Undlin; brothers, Clarence, Charles and William Routledge. Funeral: Friday, November 19, at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, Lansford, ND. Visitation and prayer service: Visitation will be Thursday, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., all at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND. Burial: Lansford Cemetery, Lansford, ND. |
