Lenora Thon • 1909 - 2006 Lenora was born on August 31, 1909, the daughter of Anton and Kristina (Johnson) Olesen in Westby, ND. She was reared and educated in the Westby area, graduating from Westby High School in 1927. On September 7, 1930, she was united in marriage to Bill Hoff in Westby, MT. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in the Ryder area, where the owned and operated the general store. Bill worked as a plumber, and his work led them to New Town ND, where they owned and operated the café. They later moved to Burlington, ND., where Lenora worked for the Green Stamp Store and was a cook at the Burlington School. Bill died in 1978. In 1981, she was united in marriage to Clif Thon. They made their home in Minot, and wintered in Arizona. Clif died in 1998. Following his death she continued to live in Minot. Lenora started to paint at the age of 80, and painted hundreds of beautiful paintings. Her faith was very important to her, being active in the church's ladies aid group and was also a Sunday School teacher. She was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church, Makoti and a former member of First Lutheran Church, Minot. She is survived by: Children: Gwen Frye, Makoti, ND; Bill (Gloria) Hoff, Plentywood, MT, Harvey (Coral) Hoff, Bottineau, ND, Tim (Linda) Hoff, Burlington, ND: one sister, Grace Anderson, Plentywood, MT; eleven grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and six great great grandchildren;Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Lenora was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, grandson Tom Frye, two sisters and one brother. Visitation: Sunday, October 22, 2006 from noon until 5 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot Funeral Service: Monday, October 23, 2006 at 2 p.m. at the Hope Lutheran Church, Makoti, ND.
