Adeline Thompson 1923 - 2005 Adeline Thompson, 81, Mesa, formerly of Minot, died Friday, June 10, 2005, in a Mesa Hospital. Adeline was born June 24, 1923, on the family farm in Roseglen, North Dakota, to Christ and Thea Halvorson. Adeline was the sixth of eight children born to Christ and Thea. Growing up with her family on the farmstead in Roseglen, she endured the hardship of the depression but realized the happiness and closeness of a large family. After high school, Adeline was able to enter college to begin
her education as a teacher. In 1944, she married Erwin Thompson
of Minnesota. While he was in the military, she taught school
in a rural community. After Erwin left military service they
farmed for a number of years until moving to Minot. Adeline completed
her education at Minot State College and began teaching in Minot
at Longfellow Elementary. Erwin worked construction during the
summer and worked at Minot Air Force Base during the winter.
In 1962 Adeline and Erwin adopted their son Timothy. Both Adeline and Erwin relocated to Arizona in late 2004 where they resided in a care facility. She was a proud member of Delta Kappa Gamma and had attained a lifetime teaching certificate. Survivors: Husband Erwin, Mesa; son, Timothy, Mesa; brother, Curtis Halvorson, West Fargo, ND; sister, Eleanor Kolkind of MN; grandchildren, Ryan,and Mrs.Kenyon (Alana) Parker; great grandson, Zachary Scott Parker; numerous nieces and nephews. Adeline was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lillian Anderson; brothers, Lawrence, Louis, Harold and Lloyd Halvorson. Funeral: Friday at 2:00 p.m., at Christ Lutheran Church, Minot. Visitation: Friday from 8:30 a.m. to noon at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, and from 1:00 p.m., to service time at Christ Lutheran Church, Minot. Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.
