Bruce C. Thingstad • 1947 - 2010 Bruce C. Thingstad was born August 28, 1947, a son of Iver and Hertha (Carstens) Thingstad in Kenmare, ND. He was raised and educated in the Tolley-Kenmare area, graduating from Kenmare High School in 1965. Following his graduation, he attended the Bottineau State School of Forestry in Bottineau, ND. Bruce enlisted into the US Navy on June 29, 1967. He served two tours in the Vietnam Conflict. His first tour, he proudly served aboard the USS Repose as a fireman, and his second tour he was an electrician’s mate on a Nuclear Submarine. He also served aboard the USS Orion. He was honorably discharged on June 27, 1975. Bruce was a farmer first and foremost. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of the VFW, Sons of Norway, and the Tolley Volunteer Fire Department. Surviving relatives include: Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and brother Curtis. Memorial Service: Thursday, April 29, 2010 at 2 pm at the Nazareth Lutheran Church, Kenmare, ND. Visitation: There will be no reviewal, however, people may sign the register one hour prior to service time at the church. Interment: Lakeview Cemetery, Kenmare, ND where military honors will take place
