JoAnn Thielen PhotoJoAnn M. Thielen, 63, Bowbells, ND, died Thursday, April 7, 2011 in her home.

JoAnn M. Arneson was born on March 16, 1948, a daughter of Adolph and Olga (Wamre) Arneson in Stanley, ND. She was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church, Lostwood, ND. JoAnn attended a country school near Stanley, ND and graduated from Stanley High School.

Following graduation, JoAnn attended Minot State University, where she graduated with a Business Degree and met John Phillps II. They were married August 17, 1967. Together they had two children, Wendy and John. In 1979, they divorced.

On August 7, 1981, JoAnn was united in marriage to James A. Thielen in Alliance, Nebraska, where she worked as a bookkeeper and CNA. In November of 2000, they moved to Bowbells, ND, where JoAnn worked as a custodian and assistant at the Bowbells Public School, retiring in the fall of 2010.

She enjoyed sewing, reading, but most of all enjoyed spending time with her family.

JoAnn is survived by:
            Children: Wendy (Scott) Stanton, Kenmare, ND; John Phillips III, Lennox, SD; brothers: Walter (Judy) Arneson and Kermit (Susan) Arneson, of Stanley, ND; sisters-in-law: Jacquie Elliot, Littleton, CO and Mildred Arneson, Stanley, ND; brothers-in-law: John (Patricia) Thielen, Tracy, CA, Larry (Virginia) Thielen, Las Vegas, NV; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Alvin Arneson and his wife Debbie, Clayton Arneson, sister Arlyce and her husband Terry Lucy. 

Visitation: Tuesday, april 12, 2011 from 4-7 at Thompson Larson Funeral Home, KENMARE

Funeral Servcie:  Wednesday, April 13, 2011, 11 am at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, BOWBELLS

Burial:  In the spring of 2011 at Lostwood Cemetery, Lostwood, ND
