Jim A. Thielen 1938 - 2010

Jim Thielen photoJim A. Thielen, 72, Bowbells, died Sunday, August 22, 2010 in the Good Samaritan Society in Mohall, ND.

Jim was born May 3, 1938 in Adair, Iowa, to Peter and Anita (Wahe) Theilen.  He was baptized at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Templeton, Iowa and graduated from high school in Templeton in 1956.  Following graduation he moved to Nebraska, where he worked as a ranch hand for several area ranchers.

While in Nebraska, Jim started a career with the Burlington Northern Railroad.  He lived and worked in several different States with the railroad until his retirement.

On August 7, 1981, Jim married JoAnn Arneson in Alliance, Nebraska.  In November of 2000 they moved to Bowbells, ND.  In 2008 Jim moved to the Good Samaritan Society in Mohall, ND, where he since had lived.

Jim was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Bowbells.  He enjoyed painting, doing drawings, photography and woodworking.  He loved to hunt, fish and go camping with his family.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the National Rifle Association.

Those who shared his life, loving wife, JoAnn, Bowbells; daughter, Wendy (Scott) Stanton, Kenmare, ND; son, John Phillips III, Lennon, SD; sister, Jacquie Elliot, Littleton, CO; brothers, John (Patricia) Thielen, Tracy, CA, and Larry (Virginia) Thielen, Las Vegas, NV; brothers-in-law, Clayton (Mildred) Arneson, Walter (Judy) Arneson, and Kermit (Susan) Arneson, all of Stanley; numerous nieces, nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Anita; brothers-in-law, Alvin Arneson and Terry Lucy, and sisters-in-law, Arlyce Lucy and Debbie Arneson.

Funeral:  Thursday, August 26, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Bowbells, ND.

Visitation:  Wednesday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Bowbells.

Burial:  Lostwood Cemetery, Lostwood, ND.
